There is quite a bad unemployment problem in Liverpool. You'd be better off trying to find work in London or the South East. There is always work available in London if you're not too fussy about what you do.
The crux of this is what do you want to do? If you want a specific role it will be harder as there are a lot of applicants for virtually every job, but if you are not too choosy about what you end up doing I do not think that the Northwest is any worse than any other part of the country in all honesty. For example, there is a lot of care work available and many agencies will provide training, with the growth of online shopping there are quite a few positions available for pickers and deliverers also.
