Web graphics production has gotten easier in 2012 and 2013!

I remember when I used to stumble around old versions of photoshop, etc. Nowadays programs are so streamlined - most of the ones that have been out for a while have very thoroughly tested UIs and are relatively intuitive. It seems like today, anyone could make graphics for the web as long as they had the right tools.

It doesn't hurt that the publication tools are getting so easy to use, too. (Like wordpress, obviously.)
 
I agree with you John. Nowadays, the software that are being made for us are just getting easier and easier to use. It helps people like us to work in a much easier way instead of having to stumble using old software that was quite complicated for some people.
 
I mean it's not just that developers are spending more money on UIs or that they have more experience. The actual development of UIs and the underlying principles of computing and psychology is ongoing, so each new generation of software has a new generation of research to take advantage of... intuitive flow is something that's expected, if not mandatory, in large scale creative software that's been released in the past 18 months.
 
Have you ever tried out Adobe Fireworks? It's specifically designed for creating web graphics, and it's an interesting alternative to Photoshop for creating UI graphics and other elements. The one thing I like about it is how seamlessly it allows you to jump between vector editing and raster editing. While Photoshop supports vector shapes, it's somewhat limited when it comes to joining and combining shapes, and not very intuitive when jumping between editing vector shapes and photo images.
