The film of the sixties is in turn inspired by "The Seven Samurai" by Akira Kurosawa. Antoine Fuqua repeated his favorite actor Denzel Washington. "I wanted to see Denzel riding, starring in a cowboy movie. This is a story that deserved to be told with a much more diverse cast. We have updated a genre that was outdated, the world is very different from the sixties, when no black actor had the opportunity to star in westerns, "says the director.
