Sitewide footer links Good or Bad?

Hello Every one,

So i want to discuss about site wide footer back links please tell me this is a Good practice or bad.

Like if we are online services provider so i can use my own site link on client's site Footer section such as Powered by "Example.com"

How Google is consider kind of footer links?
 
I dunno much abt this from the SEO perspective, but it definitely gets you up when anyone visits the other site and sees your name and lik out there. You do stand a chance of gaining some visitors and maybe prospective clients too onto your site.
