Should I switch content management systems?

I have been using cutenews as my default news system for many years now, however my site got shutdown a few weeks ago because my host thought my news system was spyware. What systems are you most used to and how customizable are they, I've used cutenews for so long because I'm familiar with it and I know it will fit my designs, but it is a bit clunky and can be a pain to work with.

I need something that will plug into my designs with a minimal amount of forcing me to use templates, what do you guys suggest?
