Putting contact info in social networking sites

I am much confused with one question that can we give all social networking profile link or contact link under contact info of any social networking site like contact info in Facebook profile. I have gone through this article (second point) but want to confirm it from you all that how much it can be effective from SEO point of view considering all aspects like visits, traffic, Google rank etc...
Plz provide me perfect answer...
 
It is simple - Social sites are to socialize and make friends. Now, come to think of it, in real life, you and your friends, share a lot of things related to so many subjects. The same happens here. Your friends on one social network will find you on others and that in turn will benefit you. It will increase your network on the other social site as well and that will bring in more traffic.
