It varies from home to home, but how much speed to you drop when you use powerline connections? Mine drops by about 50% when compared to a straight cat5e connection but is still better than wireless.
Never bothered looking at ethernet connection speeds, but as long as the internet speed is the same and it's stable then I'm happy. Powerline has worked really well for me, only one instance it didn't work.
