Please help! How to make an animated GIF like this...

Hello!

I often stumble upon these kind of animations on blogs and websites and I wonder how it is made..
It looks like there's only one photo taken, it doesn't look like there's 2 or 3 of them combined together (like it's usually done when making an animation)..
Anybody knows how to make an animation similar to this one?

Could you give an example? Usually gifs are part of a video, or just a 2 second video that is turned into a gif. If you have photoshop, you can import a video to layers and you can make a frame animation that trims down part of the video.
 
Long back there used to be some software by the name GIF Animator which would allow you to create animated GIFs. Maybe you can try out Googling that and I guess today there will be some freewares too to get this task done.
