I think Window 8.1 is the most common OS for games now. Almost all games on the market are updated for this OS version.

I think the version that is the best supporting for playing game is win 7 or win 10. Some games you can play in win 8. Win 10 is better than win 7 because Microsoft upgrade it with some of advanced functions especially user interface to enhance user experience.

Other systems are obsolete. Forget them all

Actually, it depends on the games you prefer. Some go well on Mac, some are on Win. I, for one, love playing games of chance. And they work well on many different OS. By the way, I read about them on the 1-biamo blog. You should also check it out if you like such games as well.
