It’s the only democratic nation I know where police routinely torture suspects (in a manner that makes Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib seem mild), where habeas corpus is openly abused, due process is given token acknowledgement and extra-judicial killings (called “encounters”) are not only openly acknowledged, not only known, but glorified in the media, in the press and so on
