National Institute of Design, NID, is one of the top design schools in India. The institute is a government institute with programmes in both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The institute self designs an exam - the Design Aptitude Test. Students are eligible to take admission in this institute if they get through this examination. The NID DAT 2018 was conducted in the month of January and candidates all over the country attempted the exam.



National Institute of Design has confirmed eligibility criteria of NID DAT 2018 for candidates taking up the entrance exam. Admissions for a total strength of 100 seats (B.Des programmes) will be conducted on the past of an exam (Design Aptitude Test- DAT) which will test the student on the basis of their design aptitude and creativity.



B.Des/GDPD:-

Age limit: The age limit for candidates (general category and overseas) is up to 20 years of age (before 30th June 2018) are eligible to apply. For Indian National in Reserved Category,the age limit is 23 years, for PWD category the age limit is 25 years.
Educational Qualification: Applications are open to applicants who have appeared/will appear/passed from any recognised board of education such as CBSE, IB, ICSE or their equivalent.


M.Des:-

Age limit: The age limit for candidates (general category and overseas) is up to 30 years of age (before 30th June 2018). For Indian National in Reserved Category, the age limit is 33 years, for PWD category the age limit is 35 years.
Educational Qualifications: Applications are open to applicants who have appeared/will appear/passed degree examinations – Bachelor degree minimum 4 year specialisation OR Bachelor degree minimum 3 year specialisation OR Full time diploma of 4 year duration in design/applied arts/fine arts/architecture.


Things to keep in mind:

The candidate must be able to submit the final result of their qualifying degree or certificate proving their eligibility on or before August 31, 2018.
Candidates seeking provisional admission in case they are awaiting their final results are required to provide proof (report card, Principal’s certificate, admit card).
Students, who have appeared for compartment or supplementary examination(s) for standard XII or have backlogs of any semester/final year of graduation whose results have not been declared by the time of admission must provide proof proving their eligibility by August 31st, 2018.
A candidate who has not appeared for their final board exam before the date of admission will not be eligible for admission.
Provisional admission will only be taken into consideration only when the board exam has not been declared by the concerned board.
