Well, first - decide on the Keywords you need to use - this is normally based on the content of your website or the motto of your website. Use Google Keywords tool to find what keywords would be good for your niche. (This is known as Keyword Targetting)
Then start writing content and ensure that you use these keywords on the content - but remember - dont overdo it. Normally, 3-5% of keyword embedding is considered good and anything less or more can lead to dire consequences with major search engines. (This is the Keyword Optimizing thing, put up in very simple terms)
I know, you are using Wordpress too - So use some good plugins for SEO (Yoast or even SEO Plugin - I have worked with these two for my clients and they are termed as good and much better respectively than many others).
