Hello all,
I've read a lot about Google's new Search Generative Experience, which uses AI to provide detailed summaries of complex search queries. This would seem to pull data from a variety of sources, including forums, and present it directly on the search results page.
This leads me to wonder what sort of impact you all might think this will have on forum discussion websites. Some things I'm left wondering:
Will traffic in the forums decrease? Now that SGE is able to generate answers right from our discussions, will fewer people visit the forums and read through posts?
How are we going to grow? Will it be more on uniquely, first-hand insights or information which AI cannot summarize effectively? Maybe forums could be the mightier by providing expert in-depth knowledge to remain relevant.
Opportunities:
Will niche or very specialized forums even gain importance with AI unable to devise suitable and informative content for such niches?
