How To Use Akismet For Wordpress

I have just completed my new wordpress installation and i am considering to take advantage of Akismet for wordpress this time as i have heard that Akismet is excellent and will let you fight spam with much ease. Please tell me what are the steps i have to take to make Akismet for wordpress working on blog.

I have the latest version of wordpress installed and i am using my own hosting.

You need to go to the akismet site, go to the signup for a free API key https://akismet.com/signup/#pwyw , connect it with your wordpress.com account, and once you have the API key, enter it where you need to in the akismet plugin.

I took it off all my blogs and forums as you get many false positives with it, and they cause more issues in lost members than the spam. Not that I get much spam as I use other WP plugin to combat it.
