How to integrate Facebook aps with websites and blogs?

I read somewhere that we could integrate Facebook applications with our blogs and use these apps to sell a product or market our business. This is not clear to me on how to do this , i hope somebody can share some insights to do this.
 
To be honest I've not heard of this, but then again I could be wrong. I've heard of integrating a Facebook comments section though, which I wouldn't advise as I found that it stopped a lot of people commenting on my blogs because they either couldn't leave their URL or they didn't want to reveal their Facebook to potential spammers who might be looking at my blog.
