How Do You Design 3D Games

Can some body tell me how to design 3D games and what software and tools are out there which are cheaper and powerful which can be used to design 3D Models and animations for games. Also tell how much training will some body need before starting to design good 3D models and animations for putting into mobile games.
 
Actually its a work of graphics that base on the coding and 3D panel.I am not knowing more about it but i want to seek it through Java for the making of games.I like it so much.
 
you have to know that making a simple 2D game such as Tetris is much more difficult than it looks. Creating a 3D game is even harder. You have to take many things into consideration. Games such as the classic Pac-Man and Snake are also harder than they look.
