How do write a literature review?

Writing a comprehensive literature review in just 5 minutes is challenging, but you can draft a quick summary by following these steps:

  1. Define Your Topic: Clearly identify the specific aspect of your research topic you are reviewing.
  2. Identify Key Sources: Quickly gather 3-5 key sources relevant to your topic. These can be seminal papers, recent reviews, or authoritative books.
  3. Summarise Key Findings: For each source, write a brief sentence or two summarising its main findings or contributions.
  4. Highlight Connections: Note how these sources relate to each other. Are there any common themes, agreements, or disagreements?
  5. Draft a Quick Overview: Combine the summaries and connections into a cohesive paragraph. Mention the key findings and how they collectively contribute to understanding your topic.
