How do I unlock a new iPhone 6?

A quick Google search gives me a couple of options but wondered if anyone here has a workaround / alternative.

I bought my friends iPhone 6 (upgraded on Saturday) which is sim locked to EE. EE advise that you have to have had ther phone 6 months before being eligible for their unlock service at a cost of £20.

Is their a way around this policy?

I don't know about any other services but when I was in Hawaii I unlocked my iPhone6 from TCAWireless. Worked perfectly.
