Host location

Does it matter where your website will be hosted? If you are targeting an audience in e.g. asia would it make sense to locate a website host provider from asia or will one from e.g. the USA be good enough? Performance will take a hit so how close does the host have to be to your target audience?

I think it does have an impact but I'm not sure how much. If the server is still fast then I can't see why Google would see it as much of an issue, but If the server is far away AND slow, then yeah, Google's not going to like it.

You should choose a hosting provider who's datacenter is geographically close to your target audience.
Also a host that is fairly close to you, since you'll be the one accessing the hosting the most.

Web host location does not really matters in this case. For example, I too have hosted my website with TheWebPole.com . This web host is based from USA and my website is targeted on Indian traffic. I still get more traffic to my website and many unique visitors everyday. It all depends on how well we do the SEO for our website.

There is a word 'latency' which can effect your website performance, best to keep your website hosted in your most targeted locations. If targetting Asia Market, make sure for Suitable datacenter with suited language supported tech support guys, else life will be miserable in communication. Singapore is best location if target location is Asia.
