Examples for Goals are for e-commerce website it is when the user makes a purchase, for marketing or lead generation website it is the submission of a contact information form. Goal setup is used to obtain critical information like the rate of conversion for the app or website which is essential to assess the effectiveness of your marketing campaigns for your online business.

Set up goal setting in Google analytics -

Log in to your Google Analytics account.
Click on the "Edit" link under the Actions column next to the website profile you want to create the Goal for.
Scroll down until you locate the Goals section.
Complete the Goal Information section.
Complete your Goal Details information.
Save and complete your Goal by clicking directly on the "Save Goal" button on the bottom of the Goals page.
 
A Goal Set up in your Google Analytic tells the degree of how many conversion have take place in a particular time period.
