Well, this is my official review of GoDaddy, I've been with them for about a week or two now and I think I could provide a great view on how their services are. While it only took about an hour for our Name Servers to update (their our registrar as well) it still took about a full day before parts of the world could see my forum, once that set into play, we had a few slow moments for a day or two and ever since that we've been running spotless and at a perfect speed. I can honestly say, the only thing I came across in GoDaddy that I absolutely hated was the MySQL Databases, instead of being allowed to import a GZip database (use to be my standard backup selection, I now do gzip and plain text), instead of allowing gzip, the ONLY allow plain text imports into the databases, this for me was a pain in the butt as I've never had to deal with this before, but honestly, that's the ONLY thing I found about them that I didn't like.

Nameserver update time isn't governed by the registration or hosting company: it's a question of propagation across the entire Internet - it can be almost instant or can take days, depending on traffic, downed connections and a pile of other stuff.

Also, GoDaddy uses phpMyAdmin for mySQL databases, which allows imports where the (quote): "File may be compressed (gzip, bzip2, zip) or uncompressed."

Are you on shared hosting? That would explain the limitations if you are. (I'm on their VPS setup, so have a lot more control.)
 
Godaddy Review

Godaddy in my opinion is only good for registering url name but they are not good when it comes to website hosting. I do not like them much because they even increase their prices for domain renewal and do not offer any sort of coupon or what so ever for renewal.

I am using their shared hosting infact, I heard their VPS hosting is much better when it comes to limitations/resources though.

I agree with you on the most part fiquques, I hate their renewal prices, I honestly end up leaving them after year end unless I've got a large project that another user will end up snatching the domain up if I don't renew in time, however, I have heard many glories about their hosting if you're willing to pay a bit extra, shared hosting is honestly crap with them, but it's better than most I've used, I've heard a lot of great things about their higher up plans though.
 
I am not sold on goDaddy

Good to know that you had a good experience with goDaddy but it's going to take a lot, lot more than a review for me to change my mind about goDaddy. For a start, I still cannot understand how anyone dealing in domains and hosting thinks that his customers are influenced by the sight of sexy girls when buying a domain name or a hosting plan. Another thing is that I have done a number of dry runs through goDaddy and I absolutely dislike the selling minefield I have to navigate around before I get to where I want. I prefer to do business with people who are upfront and straightforward with their offers. Sneaky techniques put me off every time.

All shared hosting sucks: I have that with iPage and it's like any shared setup - cheap. You get what you pay for!

That surprises me: I've never paid full price on a renewal. A quick search or just waiting until you're close to the renewal date almost always gets a 25% voucher or better. Like most places, you just need to play the game the same way they do. :)

That as well is one of the main things I dislike about GoDaddy, however, for a giant that rose quickly, they're losing a lot of business and this is the way that they think is best to recover lost revenue, I personally think that in the long run it will total them into losing more revenue than before opposed to gaining more from alternative methods which they could use.

I've honestly only paid for renewals through my uncles hosting site, however, as I started running up as a larger site owner, I moved off of his hosting and elsewhere, I haven't paid for any renewals since then but there's always a first, I think my latest domain will be the first renewal I'll ever have renewed outside of his registrar, however, I may deal with the $10 and move to NameCheap, but GoDaddy is certainly not getting another $5 out of me for another month of hosting, we've lately experienced some issues which may or may not be with the board as we're still working on figuring the errors out, but we had a mass mail issue where we sent one email out to find out that users got up to 17 of the same email in their email.

They were DDOS'd recently, so I'm told. I noticed it because my sites got all twitchy and everything slowed down (in general, not just my sites). No idea if that would have affected your particular problems.

You're likely to have problems with any $5/month setup, though. May I ask why you're on shared hosting if you moved off your uncle's setup because of traffic? Shared hosting won't handle anything much, especially with certain apps (e.g. a WP setup with 150 posts a day can make shared hosting die screaming).

That sounds more like a mailer issue than a hosting thing, to be honest. Good luck fixing it.
 
I used GoDaddy for a domain name registration and I experienced a few difficulties. However, I must say that they have the most kind and helpful customer service team that I have ever encountered. I had someone help me on the phone for two days straight to figure out my problem. If it wasn't for the amazing help I received, I would have given them a bad review. I think they are a decent company. Every company has their pros and cons. I think the problem that I was experiencing during that time may have been an issue with the site that I was trying to set up my GoDaddy domain name with. I'm not completely sure what went wrong back then, but all I know is that if I ever need help in the future, they will definitely help me.

Ah, well that's quite interesting. Sorry for my late reply, I've been out for quite some time lately. I actually moved off my Uncles hosting because of traffic due to his connection speeds, I'm pretty sure my uncle was running off a 10mbps connection as he was generally only hosting small/local websites which didn't gain too much traffic on a monthly basis, he's nearly abandoned his hosting company but keeps it online for some odd reason, I guess because he probably makes just slightly more than what it costs to run the business on a month to month basis and he might plan to return in the future, but I doubt it.
 
I use GD to buy my domain names, but don't host anything with them. The reason I buy from them is because, generally speaking, they're the cheapest. Also they send me multiple reminders about expiring domain names, something which a previous company didn't which resulted in my losing one of my main ones! (Okay, I know it's my responsibility, but you'd expect them to send a reminder or two!).
 
I haven't used GoDaddy for hosting so can't comment there. However, I have purchased a GD SSL certificate and after several years of use I can confirm that I have had no problem with it. Their SSL certs are one the cheapest from a recognised authority, certainly cheaper than VeriSign so I can recommend GD if you want to buy an SSL certificate.
 
I think it’s one of the most stable companies in domain world but the problem is it’s way too expensive if used without any coupon code but I always purchase when I have a good code so it helps me with discount. I have just purchased .Com domain from GoDaddy at just 99 cents using 99word promo code, so with this cheap rate i don’t think anyone would dare to hate it!
