When backing up to USB most of us will simply copy the files/folder straight from windows explorer to the USB stick. However, for an incremental backup that only copies changes and additions what free software can we use to manage this process?

You're looking for something that schedules and customizes backups? Time Machine does that, and it comes on all Macs. It's my experience that if you're looking for a Windows solution for free, you won't find anything worth your time. You'll have to pay for decent backup software, or upgrade from a free trail to unlock these features.

Have you considered using Dropbox? It works seamlessly. Just put all your important data in the Dropbox folder and it will get backed up in the cloud. You start off with 2 Gb free.
