When you perform a 301 redirect, you are only transferring a small drop in a very big bucket of SEO juice. Sure, your visitors will get to the right page, but do not redirect without looking at your marketing strategy.
This completely depends on which redirect code you are implementing i.e. 301 or 302. 301 is a permanent redirect, whereas 302 is a temporary redirect. If you are implementing 301 redirect than link juice is passed to new URL, and if you are using 302 redirect than link juice is not passed to the new URL.
