Disk problems

Whenever i insert the disk in the drive the disk doesn't work. I'm talking about my laptop in which i have tried twice or thrice to play a DVD but have been unsuccessful to see anything. What can be the possible reasons for this?

I assume you have tried several disks to prove that the DVD disc is working properly. In which case assuming you are trying to play a DVD movie perhaps you can install VLC Media player which will play pretty much every DVD on the market. Another problem could be with region codes where your DVD drive is locked to a certain country - are you watching DVD's form the same country that you bough the laptop?

Does the disc spin up at all, does it make a sound? What about the light on the side of the drive, does it flash? Is the drive appearing in "Computer"?
