I have a Facebook account and recently Facebook notified me with their new facility of following someone etc. What exactly happens when you follow someone ? What would happen if i open my following option? Would all my timeline, profile pictures, cover photos, information be public or is there a way i can control it?

If you follow someone on Facebook, that means you opt in to see status updates, photos, and everything they do just like a regular friend on Facebook. I believe you can control what they see by going to your settings page, finding what you want to disable, and choose the option "Only me", or "Friends only". I don't think a follower is considered as a friend, so they can't see what you do if you choose the options "friends only", or "only me".

Yes, I think you control the content you show in Facebook by limiting who can see what you show. Anyway, that's what's supposed to happen, theoretically. I read somewhere that Facebook is rather bad with privacy settings. So the best bet is never to put anything on Facebook that you wouldn't want your mother to see, so to say.
