What is the cheapest VPS you can find regardless of specifications? As long as it can run an operating system that is valid i.e. windows vista / server 2008 and above then it is usable.
 
For Linux VPS, the cheapest you'll find that can still host a site is in the ballpark of $15-$30 per year, but you'll most likely need to spend more like $50-$75 per year for something to host a site that gets a modest number of hits. DDOS protected servers

For a Windows VPS, the cheapest you'll find that can still host a site is in the ballpark of $150-$200 per year, but you'll most likely need to spend $250-$350 per year for something that can handle a site that gets a modest number of hits.

Thanks, at $5 per month they don't come much cheaper than that. I couldn't see much info about the specs or what is on there. Is an operating system pre-installed or are they assuming we will install one ourselves? You won't get much space afterwards from a 20GB SSD drive.
 
Usually I order the ones with Ubuntu, takes 60 seconds and there are coupons online where you can get credits for the first month.

For good Quality work, you need to pay price. For cheap things, you will get cheap quality. For Linux VPS, it will be around 5$ Per month if paying yearly and for Windows VPS, around 10 $ Per month if paying yearly

There is always a trade-off. At least for me. There's no way I can afford to put all my sites on my "ideal" web hosts. For sites that are not so critical, I am willing to pay a cheaper price at the cost of a little more "down" time and inconvenience than my more important sites.
