It won't make much difference learning to fly, unless you have flown RC before. Mode 2 (left handed) is pretty standard though, so if you pick up any other kit or someone offers you a go of theirs, it is likely to be mode 2. If you fly for real, you might find that having pitch and roll on the same stick is somewhat familiar.
