I'm seeing more and more apps going away from Facebook / Twitter auth in favor of traditional email /pass, etc. I'm building out VR apps & wondering if our own account system would be a better approach. A few years ago I'd say Magento 2 Social Login was a necessity...but I'm not as sure anymore.
The biggest reason for me to delegate user accounts to another platform is to leverage their dealing with spam accounts. Keeping bots out is hard, and if I can avoid it I'm all for that.
The biggest reason to capture the user yourself is to be able to get as much -- or as little -- information as you desire about them. Depending on the service provider you may get a name, email address, gender or ... basically nothing. Yahoo, Twitter
