Anyone use firewire?

This was supposed to be the new USB connection as it was a lot quicker to transfer data. But now we have USB2 and USB3 with amazing transfer speeds. Does anyone still use firewire or is that going to be discontinued?
 
Firewire is better than USB 2.0 IIRC, but yeh apart from using it on a camcorder a few times It never got used. I think the lightening thing Intel developed was cool but why compete against USB? USB 3.0 is cool, and it is faster (got a pendrive), but it's not as fast as I would like considering we're going to be stuck with it for a long time...
