Android vs php?

Both have its own merits and demerits. Both have one thing is common and it is programming language. Both addressing the different platform as we see Android is Application based Platform where Php is web based Platform. Its depends on you with which one you want to go. Because in Android app development you need web services which is develop in php. According to me Php is more sustainable, profitable and flexible language.
 
Apart from the fact that both are free and Open Source codes, there are few similarities between them. Android is purely mobile (or device) oriented apart from a few latest gadgets (Google's special) and it is largely restricted to mobile platform, while PHP is a common term for many open source Web development codes that are use to develop websites and web apps.

Content Management Systems (For website), Web Apps (Portals) are some examples of web app, while any app you come across Google's PlayStore are android apps.!

While java is losing its market due to it is very costly and less user-friendly. It is difficult to find a job in java compare to PHP and android.

You should not go with Android, Android is just used for mobile development only. Android had not long future.
